Young Talent RPM®: The fast track to retaining, promoting, and motivating young talent
This three day modular program is designed to provide managers and leaders with the tools they need to engage, manage, develop and retain young talent. This program can be provided by Equilibria or the facilitator manual and accompanying workbook license can be purchased for HR professionals or trainers to provide training in their organizations/government institutions. The program has four modules:
- The DNA of Generation Y
- Engagement of Generation Y Employees
- Management of Generation Y Employees
- Development of Future Generation Y Leaders
One or more of the modules can be taken, as best suits. This comprehensive talent management program can be tailored to meet the needs of the specific industry being addressed and can be customized to address specific issues faced by individual organizations after a thorough needs assessment is conducted. The following is an outline of each of the modules:
Introduction Module: The DNA of Generation Y
This module serves as an introduction to the whole program or can be used as background for any module if purchased piecemeal. In order to engage, manage and develop this generation, it is imperative to understand what has shaped their values, attitudes, beliefs and behaviors. Therefore, by the end of this module, participants will have a good understanding of the psychology behind driving Gen Y employees in order to effectively apply the engagement, management and development strategies in this program. In addition, this module has exercises to help build rapport among the participants and to get them to share the benefits and challenges they have experienced with engaging, managing and developing young talent in their own organizations.
Engaging Generation Y
This module addresses important areas of engagement to consider when working with Generation Y employees. The main areas of engagement that are addressed include: attracting, hiring, on-boarding, and retaining young talent in your organization. Specific strategies are provided within each topic and participants will leave the workshop with a clear action plan of the steps they need to take within their organizations to improve their engagement processes.
Managing Generation Y
During this portion of the program, participants will learn about the core requirements for great managing when it comes to Generation Y. They will learn strategies and techniques for highly effective management both in general and with relation to specific Generation Y issues, such as motivating and inspiring, managing expectations and demands, developing the managerial relationship, improving self management and accountability, and enhancing conflict management and communication skills. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a clear action plan on the appropriate management strategies to be implemented within their organization and areas for improvement with regard to manager development and managerial relationships with their Generation Y employees.
Developing Leadership Skills in Generation Y
During this portion of the training, participants will be provided with methods for identifying the next generation of leaders among their young talent, an imperative step in any leadership development program. With this insight, participants will learn the basics of how to shape and plan effective leadership development programs, before progressing to learn how to develop high impact, emotionally intelligent leadership skills for their top young talent. The program will also offer recommendations and strategies for incorporating mentorship within the organization and concludes with a discussion on how to enhance leadership development initiatives by creating emotionally intelligent organizational climates that support the leadership pipeline. All participants will leave with a tool box of skills and techniques for developing young talent, including the production of an action plan centered around the development initiatives of their high potential employees.
