Leadership development programs to maximize your high potential employees

Effective leadership requires the use of persuasion, influence, critical decision making, conflict management, strategic planning, out of the box thinking and emotional intelligence. However, despite the importance of these core leadership characteristics, development is often neglected or offered in “one size fits all” training programs. Research has consistently shown that these are ineffective in developing sustainable leadership skills.  What works best – but is so rarely offered - is a comprehensive program based on a foundation of accurate assessment, identification of core strengths, tailored development initiatives, and ongoing support.

Equilibria’s Leadership RPM® program provides customized, comprehensive leadership development and coaching to help current and emerging leaders maximize their strengths and address developmental areas. Our innovative and proven approach integrates an extensive understanding of human behavior with customized business strategies.

While every program is individually tailored to meet the needs of the client, the following provides a brief outline of our general approach:

Organizational and Leader Assessment

Each current or emerging leader will be taken through a comprehensive, individualized process, which could include:

  • An in-person or web-based interview to establish rapport and assess areas of strength and developmental concerns as they apply to leadership and management skills
  • An interview with direct supervisor, if applicable, to gain their perception of the individual’s strengths and areas of development
  • Implementation of a Leadership Practices Inventory 360 degree assessment (LPI 360) by selected subordinates, peers and superiors. This on-line assessment takes approximately 30 minutes for each participant to complete and unlike other such tools it will be customized to the individual. It provides a comprehensive analysis of leadership strengths and challenges
  • A Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI): Although classic, this is still very useful. Our version enhances the usefulness of the original MBTI tool by increasing self-awareness with specific focus on key areas of leadership.  It can be completed online in approximately 30 minutes
  • Where required, a variety of other leadership assessment tools can be used; we will assess the requirement based on a combination of the individual’s and the organization’s needs

Gap Analysis

  • Assessment of the organizational culture and goals
  • Measurement of where the organization is currently and where it needs to be with regard to current and emerging leadership

Individual Coaching

With the information gathered during the assessment and gap analysis, each participant will receive three individual coaching sessions (in person or via a web-based platform) in order to provide useful feedback around their leadership strengths and areas of development.  At the conclusion of the coaching sessions, an action plan with short and long term goals will be developed. This will be addressed through group leadership development initiatives, ongoing support and self directed learning.

At times, areas of development may be identified that require more intensive individual coaching. In these cases, ongoing coaching is available. Furthermore, if individuals are having difficulty with feedback received or implementing suggested strategies, they may contact their coach via email or phone.

Group Leadership Development

Using the results from the assessment phase and initial coaching sessions, the customized group leadership development program is developed and implemented. Common focus areas often include (but are not limited to):

  • Communication
  • Motivating and Influencing Others
  • Enhancing emotional Intelligence
  • Delegating
  • Problem Solving
  • Planning
  • Conflict Management
  • Problem Solving and Decision Making
  • Mentorship
  • Dealing with difficult people and people at different levels
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Critical Thinking

This customized group training program can either be offered in an intensive package or can be spread out over the course of several months, depending on the needs of the organization.

Follow-Up

Following the group leadership development program, it is recommended that contact be continued for several months following the conclusion of formalized training/coaching to ensure that strengths are being maximized and developmental areas are being addressed. Therefore, all stakeholders will have access to the facilitator as needed and formal or informal meetings can be arranged. Follow-up can be done in person or via a web based platform.
